I'D JUST LIKE to point out a glaring error in spelling in your article headed -French driver faces jail for using false licence" (GM 16 August).
The town in question is Bruay la Buissiere. You get to it by driving for an hour down the A26 from Calais, then coming off at J6 for Bethune. It's signposted from there (I know as I used to deliver plastic bumpers to a factory there).
Foreign names are often a problem, as I realised when looking in vain on a map of Austria once for the town my co-driver told me was Helencruise actually Heiligenkreuz!
Another time I was called into work urgently to go to Wernigerode in Germany "near Hanover-. The customer advised the traffic office that it was about 100 miles away.
Fortunately I had been on holiday previously in the Harz mountains at Bad Sachsa and knew it was just down the road from there, ha ha...
That firm wasn't too good on Continental names or postcodes. as a colleague found out when looking round for a delivery point near Angers. He asked at a French haulage depot, which told him it was in fact Lyon. Not much difference there, then. DS Boyes (retired) by fax
