• London Regional Transport signalled its wish for a more attractive public profile this week with the announcement of a new post of director of design and head of its Architectural Services Group.

Raymond Turner in the new post is to be responsible to LRT's chairman for all aspects of design of products, environment and information systems.

Turner comes to LRT from Kilkenny Design, the Irish Republic's national design authority. A major reorganisation of the Architectural Services Group also coincides with the appointment of Ronald Taylor to head the new department.
