understand that unless I have suitable premises I am unlikely to obtain one yet many operators I know do not have any premises at all. Why should this be required in my case?
AThe Road Traffic Act 1974 which was given Royal Assent at the beginning of this month has added a new requirement to the grant of an operator's licence. The Licensing Authority must now satisfy himself that the place which is to be the operating centre for the vehicles is suitable for that purpose. Existing operators will be asked to show this when their licence becomes due for renewal.
