THE Road Haulage Association made the following statement this week concerning the White Paper: "Probably no other industry is subject to so many controls and regulations as road haulage. It is difficult to understand why the Government should wish to threaten the industry with a further extension of public ownership. "Hauliers provide varied, highly efficient and economic services, which give complete satisfaction to their customers in trade and industry. These customers value the wide range of choice which an independent road haulage industry provides, and appreciate that the Government's proposal would seriously curtail their freedom."
