Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

As is to be expected with two high-profile hauliers having their 0-licences revoked by the Traffic Commissioners recently, the cases of LE Jones and Sandy Kydd are topics of hot debate on the forum. Some drivers are defending the companies, saying: "You do what you've got to do to survive." Some point out that anyone breaking the rules deserves to be removed from the industry.

Other drivers question VOSA's reasoning, feeling that the treatment of both firms could have been more flexible. There seems to be some feeling that the level of enforcement now is almost oppressive, and with the tangled web of regulations and directives, almost anyone can become the latest target for VOSA.

As one driver puts it: "This is surely the only job where you get prosecuted for working too hard." The forums are throwing up a diversity of views and leading to some decent debate.

Meanwhile, its nearly that time of year again, when tens of thousands of industry members and hundreds of trucks descend on Peterborough's showground. That's right Truckfest is coming.

A number of forum users have already started to prepare their trucks for the masses to stare at. The slowdown in available work tor many ownerdrivers and small fleets means that some have more time than usual to devote to polishing and touching up the paintwork.

TruckNet UK will be there again this year, sharing the stand with our colleagues at Truck & Driver. The stand area this year is larger than ever before, to accommodate a wider selection of trucks. The main display will be three battered and bruised trucks straight from the BBC TV Top Gear studios and test track.

Knowing that comfortable, out-of-the-weather seating is at a premium, we will have a small sheltered area set aside for website users to take a break, enjoy some refreshments and have a natter with the site's staff. Truck & Driver is also promising a huge giveaway — more details of which will find their way on to the site soon...
