Construction firm gets triaxle trailer with self-steer axle

ROAD PAVING and construction plant equipment firm Robert McCarroll has acquired an Andover triaxle trailer to transport asphalt pavers, rollers and self-propelled chipping machines across Scotland.

The trailer has a BPW selftracking and lifting rear axle, together with air-suspension. The Glasgow firm will use a Volvo FH12 powered by a 520hp engine to pull a 38-tonne capacity, 13.2m-long SFCL50 step-frame trailer.

Managing director Robert McCarroll says: "One new innovation we have introduced to the fleet with this trailer is the self-steer axle. It has made a world of difference for the driver since it is more manoeuvrable in confined spaces."
