John is truly set to become a rocket man with the purchase of his new Jaguar XJ220, claimed to be the world's fastest road car at 341km/h (212mph).
It's not exactly going for `your song' either, at a cool £400,000.
Jaguar is limiting production of the speed machine to 350 — Elton has been on the waiting list since 1989 and customers further down the line have a further four years to wait. And wouldn't one or two truck manufacturers like to be in that position! The Hawk remains unimpressed of course; after all there's bound to be a bus along before then.
(That's quite enough sour grapes — Ed).
