expansion plan blocked by Selby District Council — and managing director Norman Lewis isn't taking it lying down. He has called in his MP and his MEP to help persuade the council to let him more than double the size of his 2ha site to make room for more of his tankers. He has spent £500,000 on the site but if the council won't change its mind he'll have to restrict his activities.
Down the road at Sherburn in Elmet, GW Sissons and Son faces similar problems: it is appealing to the Department of the Environment over plans to extend its parking space.
