Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I am confused about what vehicles the new tread-depth law for tyres applies to.

Does it apply to all vehicles or just cars?

A The requirement that a tyre has a tread depth of 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of

the breadth of tyre tread applies only to passenger vehicles constructed or adapted to carry not more than eight passengers (in addition to the driver) and to goods vehicles and trailers with, in either case, a maximum design gross weight not over 3.5 tonnes. This new requirement, which came into operation on 1 January this year, does not apply to a vehicle first used before 3 January 1933.

On larger vehicles the tread depth must be at least lmm across any three-quarters of the breadth of tread or, if the grooves of the original tread pattern did not extend across three-quarters of the tread breadth, the original grooves must have a depth of at least 1 mm.

In all cases the minimum tread depth must be present round the entire circumference of the tyre.
