• Penrith Magistrates have cleared Clitheroe based AJA Smith Transport of using a vehicle with dangerous parts, and ordered that its defence costs be paid out of public funds.
The prosecution offered no evidence after the magistrates refused to allow it to amend the charge.
The company was given an absolute discharge, but ordered to pay £20 costs, after admitting a cut tyre offence.
