• ZF has developed an electronic control system for its popular Servocom powerassisted steering which is designed to vary the amount of assistance according to the vehicle's speed.
On display at next month's Hanover Show, the new Servotronic steering is already being applied to ZF's car power steering systems, with some 300,000 units already in use. Servotronic is claimed to combine adequate assistance during manoeuvring with good feel at high speeds. In addition to speed it takes load and transverse acceleration into account.
ZF is also expanding the range of applications for its Ecomat automatic transmissions beyond the traditional bus and coach market to vehicles for the construction industry and the municipals.
