Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ALL FOUR functional directors at the Road Transport Industry Training Board have had their contracts terminated as part of a clean sweep of the management structure.

Legal director Brian Slade and finance director Derek Kempson have already left, and administration director Mike Pickering and training director Colin Nunn will have left within six months.

The change was demanded by the Board as part of its determination to run the RTITB on more cost-effective lines, and four lower paid and lower graded posts have been created for their successors.

Chris Hodgson is now training manager, David Barnett chief operations manager, Geoff Marshment secretary, and George Suckling chief accountant.

More changes are being proposed in the structure of the RTITB, as part of its aim to reduce the administrative staff. At present, there are around 500 employees at its headquarters and at the Multi-Occupational Training and Education Centres at High Ercall and Livingston. By the end of this month, there will be 460.

No decision has yet been taken on the future of the North London headquarters, but it is still intended that less grand quarters should be found. This may be discussed at a full board meeting towards the end of next month.
