• "Bus cages" up to 80ft long will be painted on the roads at certain bus stops in London's first big traffic experiment to improve services; all other traffic will be banned from the cages from 7am till 7pm.The trial scheme is planned to start on May 24 on the E3 route, GreenfordTurnham Green-Chiswick, and if successful expanded and introduced in other parts of London.
The cages will be distinguished by ,white markings with an 8in, yellow band running parallel with the kerb. Other measures include stringent parking restrictions on parts of bus routes and special traffic wardens to enforce them.
