Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

In the annals of crimes and misdemeanours who would have thought taking a sip of water would be added to the list? Certainly not motorist Linda Sharp, who has been fined £20 by Wiltshire police for swigging from her bottle of mineral water as she sat at red traffic lights in Chippenham. She was stopped by an officer as she pulled away and issued with an on-the-spot fine.

Needless to say Ms Smart, who lives in Caine, is not a happy bunny. "I drove off and had the bottle in my hand as I changed out of first gear, but I put it straight down after that," she says, 1 wasn't even going at lOmph."

She has refused to pay the fine and has opted to go to court instead. "They may slap me with a bigger fine (up to 1200 apparently) and four penalty points," she says, "but I am hoping the court will realise just how ridiculous the situation is."
