Manheim Remarketing is warning van dealers to sort themselves out now before the LEZ kicks in on 3 January 2012

Words: Kevin Swallow

WITH JUST OVER three months to go before updated London Low Emission Zone (LEZ) regulations become law, Manheim Remarketing is warning dealers to source Euro-3 vehicles now as competition will only increase.

From 3 January 2012, operators of vans, 4x4s and pick-ups with an unladen weight of more than 1.205 tonnes and those registered before 1 January 2002 will have to meet Euro-3 emissions levels to enter London’s LEZ.

James Davis, general manager CVs at Manheim Remarketing, is encouraging dealers to source vans now rather than later in the year as deleeted volumes are reducing across its network. “Some sales are seeing more than 350 buyers vying for the same stock,” he says. The situation isn’t likely to improve, he warns, as the used market will reap the beneits of a near 40% fall in new registrations in 2008. “With up to 70,000 vans likely to be affected by the LEZ changes, having the right stock to meet that demand should be a priority.” ■
