RENAULT LOOKS set to take the lead from Mercedes in offering a low-weight, cut-price 7.5-tonner to run alongside the Midlum in its line-up.
In the next few weeks the French manufacturer is expected to launch a Spanish-built 7.5-tanner, based on the Nissan Atleon and powered by the Cummins ISBe engine.
Considerably lighter and more compact than the Renault Midlum, the new 7.5-tonner is expected to sport _ Renault branding and a A Renault: Launching light, cheap 7.5-tanner new grille to give it a distinct family look. The new model will be sold and serviced through the Renault Truck dealer network.
The NissanAtleon was launched in 1999, but due to production restrictions it never made it into right-hand drive. Renault versions are expected to be offered in rightand left-hand drive,
