THIS COULD be the dark horse of this year's contest: on paper it ticks all the boxes to make it a viable contender. Substantially lighter than the Atego, significant cab improvements and an enhanced aftermarket offering could help the Canter make a bold bid for glory. Ideal for the crowded roads of Europe, the Canter would be an unexpected, though not altogether surprising victor.
Verdict It would be a big shock if the Canter scoops gold, but it's in with a shout.
