THE NEW Iveco Trakker construction range, employs much of the technology Iveco has already used to good effect on the Stralis range (itself Truck of the Year 2003), while retaining the rugged off-road ability which set its predecessor apart. The new model benefits from a number of improvements, particularly in terms of cab comfort, ride and handling. However, the Trakker remains too heavy for it to be any more than a niche player in the UK's muckaway sector.
Verdict
For a tipper to be voted International Truck of the Year would be a major turn-up; we'll be surprised if the Trakker makes the frame.
