Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A BLACK COUNTRY haulier that offers everything from truck washing to driver training has won a30,000 grant to develop its services using smart-card technology.

AE Hawkins (Haulage Contractors) won the grant to develop its own smart card system after launching a "transport village" last year (CM 23 September, 2(X)4).

MD Gary Hawkins explains: "Drivers who receive training from us can have their records and CVs put on the card. It will also be a loyalty card for the village; if someone has two truck washes here, for example. they could have a free bacon butty at our cafe."

The grant has come through the West Midlands regional development agency to promote the use of new technology. Hawkins says the move will help prepare his business for digital tachographs.
