A LANCASHIRE skip hire company and its director have been ordered to pay nearly £8,000 in fines and costs for running an illegal waste transfer station.
RTK Grab Skip Hire was found guilty at Bury magistrates court of keeping controlled waste without a waste management licence. Director John Bottomley was found guilty of consenting to keeping controlled waste without a licence.
The court was told that an application for a contractor's yard was refused by the council's planning departmen Land later became subject to an enforcement notice. The company was subsequently prosecuted by the council for failing to adhere to the notice.
Repeated visits from enforcement officers found controlled waste at the site.
The company had already been prosecuted for depositing controlled waste at Harperfold Farm in Radcliffe without a waste management licence.
It was fined i41,0(X) and ordered to pay costs of il3,732.
