Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE HIGHWAYS AGENCY is preparing a guide to UK truckstops and cafes which will be made available on the internet later this year. The Department for Transport does not currently have such a list.

The Highways Agency confirmed it was preparing the list after Drivers Action Movement (DAM) secretary Jack Crossfieid wrote to the DfT asking whether such a guide existed.

Among the truckstops which will be included in the new list is Barncys Cafe at Barnetby, Lincolnshire, where owner David Nundy welcomed the idea. "Anything which gets us some extra business is very welcome," he says.

DAM has long been campaigning for more trucks tops to be available to drivers and for better information on where they are.

"It's a vital issue if you want your vehicle parked up safely and the driver given some protection," says Crossfield.

One of the reasons DAM is concerned about secure overnight parking is the growing number of attacks on drivers and the highjacking of vehicles.
