Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

INTERM ODA L. FIRM Freightliner is extending its relationship with Widnes-based container haulier O'Connor Transport, which will receive a daily rail service from Southampton.

But the move has stalled because Freightliner is awaiting infrastructure improvements on the route to allow the use of 2.9mhigh containers.

Peter Maybury, boss of Freight liner Intermodal, says: You can't get these boxes on a standard rail wagon: it's proving to be a challenge getting the service off the ground. There's a lot of lobbying that needs to be done on this it's a fundamental piece of investment that needs lobe made.

The government has cleared the rail routes from Tilbury and Felixstowe to allow use of the higher capacity boxes. This sector of the container market is growing at 3% per year.

O'Connor, which turned over £l Om last year, already receives three Freightliner trains a day from Felixstowe at its Widnes site. It completed an £8.5m expansion of its Widnes Intermodal Rail Depot last year with the addition of two new gantry cranes.
