• Tiphook continues to insist that a bankruptcy petition faced by its flamboyant founder Robert Montague does not affect its business.
Millionaire Montague, chief executive of the troubled trailer rental giant, will be banned from being a director of the company if the .0.3m claim from the Royal Bank of Scotland is successful. But bosses at Tiphook, which lost £331m last year. have said the matter is personal to Montague. It denies offering him a nondirector's role in the firm if he is made bankrupt. Montague, who earned £1.3m last year, owns an estate in Oxfordshire and a house in Knightsbridge.
