ichard Cresswell proudly accepts the best livery award at the Biggar Veteran and Vintage Rally from Catherine Tuck, project marketing manager or competition sponsors Interlink Express. Cresswell had driven 238 miles in his 1958 AEC Mercury Mark 11 from Stone, near Stafford. He originally bought his winning vehicle from a Lincolnshire farmer, refurbished it and hand painted it with the help of a retired signwriter who proved that after a lifetime in the craft the eye and the hand were as true as ever. Hawk-eyed readers will spot that the "trophy" is an empty beer glass, no doubt hand engraved by a retired engraver. One trusts it did not remain empty for long after the presentation.
