• The BRS Chesterfield truckstop was this week due to change hands to an owner who plans to spend at least 2100,000 on driver-led improvements. Charles Jesudason, a former area manager at BRS, wants drivers to suggest ideas for the site which is based off the M1 at J29. He already plans to change the name of the site to the Junction 29 Truckstop. And he plans to ban frozen food from his kitchen, and to offer hot food from 05:00hrs to 21:00hrs. Jesudason also wants to attract locals to the stop's bar and games area, "with a social programme of weekend events". The Key Fuel bunkering will remain, as will 24-hour hot showers and parking for 120 trucks. Initially the site will be closed on Sunday, but opening hours may be extended to cover the weekend.
Jesudason was due to complete contracts on Monday (19 September).
