• Drivers are invited to truck on down to a taste of 1950s Americana at a Tamworth diner run by Granada.
The Rock Island Diner, at the services off J10 of the M42, is staffed by jiving waitresses— called dinettes in the jargon of the time—dressed in 1950s outfits. The decor follows the style of a 1948 New Jersey diner.
There is parking space for 34 trucks: the drivers can listen to non-stop rock 'n' roll and eat allAmerican food, including allday American breakfasts, hash browns, rib-eye steaks, southern style chicken and pecan pie.
