Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Dear Sir • I regularly read opinions why wheels work loose. I would like to put my own one forward. Air wrenches, I consider, are a lot to blame. I insist in my workshop, where we maintain 30 lorries, that all wheelnuts are torqued after fitting.

You might say, "That's common practice", but if that wheel nut doesn't move with the torque wrench, the odds are it has been overtightened. That, I understand, is as harmful as unflertightening.

Many things affect the use of these air guns: lubrication, compressor pressure, gun setting, its condition, and not forgetting the operator.

I wouldn't be without this labour-saving device. Their use needs to be supervised.
