• A new Fiat all-steel, factory-produced van will be shown for the first time anywhere at the Earls Court Commercial Motor Show which opens today.
The new model, designated 5ONC, has a gvw of 5, and an unladen weight of 2.6 metric tons. Chassis layout is conventional with a front-mounted engine and rearwheel drive. Dual wheels are used on the rear axle.
The large cab is of the forward-controltype and entry is ahead of the front axle by a single step. The doors do not go up to the roof height but the windscreen does. This extra large screen is wiped by three blades.
Wheelbase is 3 metres (9ft 10in.). The engine is a Fiat 8040 which is a fourcylinder 3.456-litre diesel producing 81.5 bhp at 3200 rpm and 159 lb ft torque at 1800 rpm.
