Albert Burrows, 52, director-general of Merseyside PTE, has been elected national president of the Association of Public Passenger Transpot Operators.

Brian Gray, 41, has been appointed md of Winn International Containers Ltd. Mr Gray has joined Winn from Ralph Hilton Transport Services Ltd. H. C. Hobbs has relinquished his position as md of Winn International, but retains his seat on the board, and has been appointed md of Collico Ltd.

David Thomas has joined Ailsa Trucks Ltd as fleet sales executive.

Henry Marlin. an employee of D. McKinnon (Transport) Ltd, Kilmarnock, won a lorry driving contest at Prestwick Airport organized by Esso Petroleum Co Ltd and Ayrshire Road Transport Group Training Association; there were 65 entrants. Another McKinnon driver, James Morton, won the category for rigid vehicles of over 30ft overall length.

OBITUARY •

We record with regret the death of T. J. Sheppard. Mr Sheppard. who was 43. was general manager of Hartlepool Corporation Transport.
