• The Transport Development Group increased its six-month turnover to 05,364,000 (132.954.000) and its tax-paid profit to £2,563,000 (£2,476,000) for the half-year ended June 30. "The results inevitably reflect the continuing problems which beset the economy as a whole," said Sir Reginald Wilson, chairman, in his interim financial statement. "Companies in the major port areas and those serving heavy industry found the going difficult; the results of these companies to some extent offset progress made in other directions and the useful contributions from Trafford Park Cold Storage Ltd which was acquired in February 1972."
There were now signs of increasing activity in many fields, he said.
