Four models, one a new tipping semi-trailer, are on the stand.

The tandem-axle tipper comprises a 28ft long all-welded body designed by Wilcox of Rushden for carrying scrap iron-. This body is mounted on a Pitt chassis which uses 4in. wide by 12in.-deep fabricated I-beam main-members which deepen to 16in, over the suspension.

The running gear is RC1R M series with monoleaf springs and 22500 series axles. The widespread bogie plated to 20 tons is fitted with 11.00 — 22.5 tyre equipment.

Gross trailer weight is 30 tons.

A 40ft platform skeletal fitted with retractible twistlocks of Pitt design to carry one 40ft, two 20ft or one 30ft ISO container and plated to 32 tons gross trailer weight is also on the stand.

. The chassis main-members are extended forward to support the 2ft 9in.-high detachable headboards. The widespread tandem axle bogie fitted is plated to 20 tons . and uses 22,5001b capacity axles and 10.00 —20 tyres.

The third show model is a step-frame tandem-axle TIR semi-trailer for use at 32 tons gcw.

The 40ft platform including 28ft lower deck length has an unladen height of 3ft 4in, at the rear and a capacity of 2940 cu ft is obtained within the overall tilt height of 4 metres. Interior width exceeds 2.4 metres, allowing double stacking of metric pallets.

ROR M series suspension complete with 9-ton capacity axles and 8.25— 15,00 tyres are used on the bogie. This configuration plated at 8.4 tons per axle limits the vehicle speed to 50 mph and gross trailer weight to 26 tons.

A 36ft coil-carrying trailer plated to 32 tons gross trailer weight and designed to carry one 20 ton coil completes the stand.

The floor is 1.125in.-thick hardwood; the V-well is 24ft long and has removable trapdoors.

Chassis construction uses two I-beam section main-members and full-width cross-members welded to the main-beams at 2ft centres. Alternate cross-members in the well region are braced to the main-members. The depth of main-member is 24in. at the coil well reducing to 20in. over running gear.

Running gear is multi-leaf ROR widespread tandem axle with 22500 series axles and 10.00 — 20 tyre equipment. The bogie is plated to 20 tons, the kingpin 12 tons.
