These include the change rom channel to top-hat section material for he body ribs, a standard raised headboard 4ft 0.5in. high designed for cab protection, tlimination of the need for an add-on cab mud, and an air-operated tailgate lock.
Four exhibits on the stand will interest ipper operators. The first is the Samson "andem-Tip. Plated for operation at 32 tons icw, the semi-trailer has an unladen weight
■ elow 3.75 tons giving a payload capacity of pproximately 22.75 tons with a typical ractive unit. The 20ft 10in, all-aluminium lody of 25 Cu yd capacity is mounted on lands Neway tandem-axle running gear and pork 22,5001b capacity axles. As the body tips it pivots about the rear axle, lifting the leading bogie axle from the ground. The outfit's wheelbase shortens, the tractive unit either remains stationary and pulls the trailer bogie towards it or the trailer bogie brake is applied and the tractive unit reverses toward the bogie. The bogie is plated to 18.5 tons. Clearance is adequate for tipping into a Barber Greene, The Tandem Dump is plated for operation at 32 tons gcw and with a typical tractive unit a payload of 21.5 tons is envisaged.
The body is all-welded high-tensile steel with a 20 cu yd capacity and features a two-piece tailgate, split horizontally and hinged off-centre. Running gear is George Neville's own heavy-duty rubber suspension for on-off highway applications. This Genco suspension comprises heavy-duty chevron rubber /metal suspension blocks — four per axle — and a heavily bushed centre trunnion which is the articulation point for the suspension rocking beams and also the pivot point for the body.
A semi-trailer featuring a GN chassis will be shown for the first time at the Show. Plated to run at 32 tons gcw, a payload of 21.5 tons can be expected with a typical tractive unit. The 18ft long Samson body is all-welded aluminium and hes a 38 cu yd capacity. An Edbro single ram tipping gear is used, mounted outside the body front and no recess into the loadspace is required at the body front panel with this method of tipping.
The leaf spring running gear is built to GN specification and the tandem axle bogie is plated to 19 tons. Gross trailer weight is 28.5 tons. With a uniformly distributed load the bogie is positioned to carry 18 tons, therefore the operator has a 1 ton weight distribution tolerance on the bogie.
A rubber dolly fitted with a York 10-ton axle and the all-rubber Genco single-axle suspension is also shown.
