Seven models of trailer are shown on this stand. They include a drawbar platform skeletal, the 10-ton capacity inter-urban semi-trailer, a 12-metre TIR semi-trailer fitted with a .new, more versatile tilt, 40ft refrigerated van and finally a 4320ga1 capacity tank semi-trailer.

The 20ft 3in.-Iong drawbar trailer has two fabricated I-beam main-members, 4in. wide by 15.75in. deep at the belly, 8,25in. deep at the neck; 4in.-deep by 1.75in.-wide I-section cross-members fixed at 2ft centres and a pair of bolsters supporting four retractable twistlocks suitable for securing one 20ft container.

The two 20,000lb capacity axles are each plated to 8 tons, have 16.5in. by 7in. S-cam actuated brakes and 9.00 — 20 tyres. Multi-leaf CF suspension is fitted as is a single row ballbearing turntable.

The inter-urban trailer supplied to Bass Charrington for its delivery services has a payload capacity of 10 tons and runs on a single axle fitted with 8.25 — 15 tyres to reduce loading /platform height to 3ft 3in. The axle capacity is 8.2 tons, the kingpin 4.3 tons and platform length 24ft. Bin. Special features include a toolbox mounted on the offside and CO2 cylinder racks fitted to each side.

A low cost TIR superstructure is the feature of the 12-metre TIR semi-trailer. The main pillars are rectangular hollow section with eight sockets for side retaining boards; the intermediate pillars are removable to facilitate side loading. Apertures, are 15ft 4.5in. by 7ft Sin., and 23ft 4.625in. by 7ft Sin.

The flat-platform trailer is plated at 29 tons gross trailer weight, the widespread bogie is plated to 20 tons and the kingpin to a maximum 11 tons. Dual folding kingpins are fitted at 2ft 6in, and 3ft Sin, locations. Ten pairs of cargo lashing rings are fixed to the deck.

The 40ft-long refrigerated TIR van semi-trailer features a heavy-duty widespread single leaf suspension and ROR 22500 series axles, the bogie. is plated to 20 tons, the outfit is plated to operate to 32 tons gcw.

The 36ft coil carrier has a nearly 26ft-long coil well, 4ft lin. wide, 15in. deep and with a 9in, flat base. The fabricated I-beam main-members are Sin, wide, 17in. deep at the belly, 10in, deep at the neck. Under the well there are 6in. by 2in. I-section cross-members. The tandem-axle bogie incorporates a monoleaf spring suspension and 22,500lb capacity axles. The bogie is plated to 18.5 tons, the kingpin 11 tons.

Finally there is a 4320ga1 capacity tank semi-trailer. The shell is of straight circular stainless steel construction with mild steel top-hat section stiffening rings welded to the tank and suitable for accepting mild steel tandem-axle bogie subframes, landing legs and rubbing plate. Running gear on the show model is single-leaf tandem axle with ROR 20,000lb capacity axles fitted with 18.00 -.19.5 big single tyres.
