The Guy stand features sixand eight-wheel chassis designed to meet the new C and U Regulations and equipped, with modified bogie dimensions for 19 tons plating.

The other exhibit is a Big J4T tractive unit fitted with a sleeper cab for TIR operation. This model has a 12ft 1 in. wheelbase and is plated to 32 tons gcw; it uses a Cummins NHK 230 14.13-litre six-cylinder engine which develops 230 bhp 2100 rpm. A Fuller nine-speed range change overdrive gearbox is mated to a Guy hub reduction rear axle which has a lockable differential. A full air braking system is fitted which uses spring-actuated secondary and parking brakes. A load-sensing valve which effectively distributes braking effort between axles in the unladen state is incorporated in service and secondary systems. The Motor Panels sleeper cab now has improved seating and sound-insulation.

The Guy Big J6. 6 x 4 tipper/mixer chassis has a wheelbase of 14ft and is plated for 24 tons gvw. This model has a Leyland fixed head 500 engine which develops 162 bhp at 2600 rpm and 372 lb ft torque at 1700 rpm driving througha six-speed constant mesh gearbox. The bogie is a modified four-spring balance beam design with supplementary rubber springs and uses tandem hypoid axles with lockable third differential. Power-assisted steering is fitted as standard.

The Guy Big J8, 8 x 4 tipper chassis uses the same bogie as the six-wheeler. Wheelbase of this model is 19ft 1÷in. allowing it to be plated at 30 tons gvw. A Rolls-Royce Eagle 220 engine is used together with a 10-speed overdrive range-change gearbox. The front axle has a capacity of 6.5 tons and is fitted with power-assisted steering. An all-steel Motor Panels cab is used and the. exhaust and air intake air of the stack type mounted behind the cab to improve the front angle of approach for site work.
