Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

As recycling schemes continue to be introduced on the back of evertougher environmental legislation, transport opportunities keep popping up in the waste management sector. The Recycling Show, staged at the National Agricultural Centre, Stoneleigh, gave an idea of what the future may hold, according to a number of specialist body-builders.

• Trio was among the exhibitors displaying the latest in compartmentalised domestic kerbside collection vehicles. Its 28m3 Telehoist-branded Holdall model, fitted to a 17-tonne GVW Dennis Elite chassis, made its debut at the show: it features six individual, variable-sized compartments for recyclable materials. The nearside loading troughs are filled by operatives who segregate different materials such as glass, tins and newspapers at source as they collect waste horn households. Once the troughs are full, the whole assembly lifts and tips into the body's separate compartments.

• A three-compartment recycler withbin-lifters from Trio can handle all sizes of bins from household wheelies up to industrial-sized 1,280-litre containers. Recyclers come in a variety of configurations with one, two or three compartments offering a variety of split proportions. They are generating a lot of interest, particularly among cullet (broken glass) merchants. • Lefort UK brought along what could be seen as John Prescott's answer to all our motoring problems: its 56-tonne Mobile 600 car-crushing rig. This monster's hydraulics are capable of exert ing 240 tonnes of force on each side of your motor while providing a hold-down force of 120 tonnes. Its 120-tonne pusher ram will finish off the job by turning your pride and joy into a mantelpiece ornament. According to Lefort, the Mobile 600 is ideally suited for touring the breaker's yards, many of which have problems getting planning permission to install static crushers. • With compartmentalised recyclers very much in vague, Jack Allen's 2-in-1 machine made a timely appearance. Its two compartments offer a 70/30 split an are served by three Zoeller binlifts, with a double-lifter on the 70% side and a single on the other. The 23-tonne GVW show model was mounted on a 5eddo Atkinson chassis which also sported a Leader 280 fiveseatei low-entry crew-cab.
