• Demand for automotive lubricants in the European market could fall by as much as 30% to 1.39 million tonnes between now and 2005, according to a new report.
But European Lubricant Markets to 2005, drawn up by DRI/McGraw-Hill, predicts that demand for industrial lubricants will increase by 1.7% a year.
The decline in demand for CV engine oil is expected to be slightly faster than for passenger car engine oil.
The report says developments in engine and lubricant technology will reduce lubricant consumption.
