Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• One of Sainsbury's longestserving dedicated distribution suppliers, J Whittam, was acquired by Wincanton last week.

The £4 million annual turnover company has been serving Sainsbury stores in the London area for the past 20 years.

Wincanton has already agreed an on-going contract with Sainsbury and as a result no redun

dancies are planned among Whittam's 25 drivers who operate from a 7,500m warehouse in Feltham, Middlesex with 17 32-38 tonne rigid and artic trucks. The remaining 75 staff are also being offered jobs with Wincanton.

"The acquisition virtually doubles our activities with Sainsbury as we have a similar operat

ion in Bristol," says Wincanton managing director Chas Lawrence.

Wincanton has a turnover of £200 million and 4,500 employees. Wincanton Distribution operates dedicated contracts for Safeway, Lo-cost, Presto, Boots, CRS, Iceland, Gateway, Matteson Walls, St Ivel, Muller and Nurdin & Peacock.
