• Britain's highest-paid manager of a truck dealership earns £52,000 a year — double what most managers in the industry earn, according to a survey published this week.

The average salary for managers is .220,000, with a profit share of 25,000. The topearner, who is not named, runs a dealership in London, has a salary of E35,000 and is paid bonuses of £17,000.

The survey, by management consultancy Aplin Phillimore Associates, shows wide discrepancies in salaries for employees doing similar jobs. They vary by as much as 50% in the case of truck salesmen.
