• Salford magistrates have decided that allegations concerning the falsification of tachograph records by drivers employed by Student Products ought to be dealt with at Manchester Crown Court — despite the fact that two of the drivers had asked to be tried by the magistrates.
Driver John Davies of Salford faces four charges of making false entries on tachograph charts; driver Anthony Orange of Altrincham faces eight similar charges, and driver Stephen Flower of Timperley faces three such charges. The company is accused of causing the offences and managing director Stewart Miller is accused of aiding and abetting the drivers.
At an earlier hearing, Flower and Orange admitted the charges against them after consenting to summary trial and sentance was deferred, The magistrates have since decided that all the defendents ought to be tried at the Crown Court. Conunital proceedings have been fixed for 4 December.
