SUGGESTIONS from Sport Minister Denis Howell that coach operators were at fault in the Birmingham football riot have been discounted by the Confederation on British Road Passenger Transport.
In a letter to the Minister the CPT also states that arrangements agreed with the police have not been put into effect.
In the Confederation's experience, the real problem relating to coaches is the attack by home fans on coaches carrying the visiting supporters. Protection given by the authorities is often far from satisfactory," says the CPT.
