TONY BOWLAND has retired as managing director of NMU Transport Ltd after 44 years with the company. He is being replaced by Neil Robinson.

Mr Bowland began his career when NMU — now part of the Rowntree Mackintosh group — was still an independent. His time with the company has included war service and the establishment of the company as the Rowntree group's principal transport subsidiary.

Mr Robinson is moving to his new job from the groceries division of the group.

After 57 years working, the last 19 with Black and White coaches at Cheltenham, Fred Invine has retired at the age of 70. At a presentation at the coach station engineering foreman Mr Irvine was presented with a number of gifts.

Rubery Owen-Rockwell have appointed Eric Hart as their new managing director following the appointment of John Pierce as general managing director Rockwell International Automotive Operations, Europe.

Mr Hart moves up to his new job from being general manager of manufacturing. He has been in the transport industry for 14 years connected with the engineering side of the industry.
