THE crowd's attention at motor and motor-cycle race meetings naturally focuses on the men and Machines performing in spectacular fashion on the track. There is nevertheless much of interest in the caravanserai of traders' vehicles which set up on site at these events to provide facilities of various kinds.

These pictures were taken at Silverstone at the Motor Cycling Silverstone Saturday and the Daily Express R.A.C. Grand Prix .earlier this year in the paddock and around the outside of the circuit, and illustrate the diversity and ingenuity . of the design of the vehicles bearing " Contractor " windscreen labels. Their staffs work at high pressure—and know little of the battles being fought on the track.
