In 1946 he became operating manager (country buses and coaches) of the London Passenger Transport Board and continued to hold this position with the Executive. He will relinquish it on taking up his new post.

LORD DERWENT was last week appointed chairman of the British Road Federation in succession to Lord Sandhurst. Leaving the Army in 1930, he first held an appointment with the Renault concern, but is now a director of two companies in the insurance field. Lord Sandhurst had been chairman for eight years. He was one of the founders of the Road Group in the House of Lords.

. MR. ROWLAND SLATER Gur has been elected a director of Guy Motors, Ltd. In 1950 he became responsible for production control at the company's Wolverhampton works. MR. Rom Guy has not taken the place of Ma. G. P. ROBERTS on the board, as 'announced earlier. Ma. H. G. Pucat, technical representative, is making a three-months' tour of Australia. On his way there he will meet Indian users of Guy vehicles in Bombay.

MR. T. J. MORTON has been appointed traffic superintendent of the Tyneside Tramwa.2.s and Tramroad Co., Ltd.

MR. S. J. Vos, chairman of the Regent Oil Co., Ltd.,and Trinidad Leaseholds, Ltd., is visiting the U.S.A. and Canada.

MR. G. G. HARDING has been appointed deputy engineer and general manager of Rochdale Transport Department.

MR. STANLEY S. DawEs, president of the Institute of the Motor Industry, has had to cancel all speaking engagements until the end of the year because of illness.

SIR ARTHUR MORSE is on November 1 to succeed SIR ALEXANDER MAXWELL, who retired in August, as chairman of the British Travel and Holidays Association.

MR. L. G. SHIELL has retired from his position as general manager of Arthur E. Gould, Ltd., London Ford main dealers. 'He has been with the company for 35 years and will continue to serve as a director in a consultative capacity. His successor as general manager is MR. J. C. OLLEY.

MAJ.-GEN. G. N. RUSSELL, chairman of the board of management of British Road Services, is paying a short visit to the Gold Coast. His expert.services have been placed, by arrangement with the British Transport Commission, at the disposal of the preparatory commission for the Volta River project so that he may advise on transport matters.

LLANDUDNO TRAMS TO GO TRAMS are to-be replaced by buses I by the Llandudno and Colwyn Bay Electric Railway Co. Sir Joseph Nall, chairman, states that application is being made for a road service licence. The company lost £3.004 last year.
