Simplicity of Design and Ease of Manipulation Outstanding Features of New and Unusual Tipper Body

AN interesting last-minute exhibit, onview outside the Ford Exhibition at the Albert Hall, is the Cantilever Kwik-tip, a side tipper by Baico Patents, Ltd., High Road, Chiswick.

The tipping body, which fits inside a normal drop-sided body, is provided with three runways, stop pins being arranged in the centre of each. These runways are located over rollers, of which there are nine, three to each runway. As the centre roller is larger than those at the ends, the tipper body rests only on the centre roller, so that when the side of the lorry body is let down quite a small amount of bias on that side causes the tipper body to incline, and, when released, to slide outwards at a B64 slight downward angle until the tipper plates, arranged at each end of the roller mounting, engage the stop pins. This engagement causes the tipping action, which discharges the load some 3 ft. away from the side of the vehicle.

The sides of the tipper are pivotally mounted at ihe top, the dimensions of the lorry body, in relation to that of the tipper body, being such as to keep the sides of the latter in position when loaded. As shown, the tipper has a capacity of 4 cubic yds.. the chassis on which it is fitted being the Fordson two-tonner.
