The trouble was caused by a barge in the canal jamming beneath the partly opened swing bridge at Townhead, so that it was unable to return to its normal position. Over this bridge passes all traffic to and from Glasgow, and a considerable number of vehicles was held up for a long time.

Amongst the visitors to the Motor Show there is a curious mixture of opinions as to the latter site. Some are frankly regretful at leaving the haunts with which they have been familiar for years, others appreciate the ease with which particular stands at Earls Court can be found, although critical of the " dead ends " in the gallery. Our experience on the first day was that the catering had not quite got into its stride, the gallery seemed congested, and we found the long, bare passages leading to the stations somewhat depressing.
