ACAREFUL perusal of this issue of The Commercial Motor will indicate the manner in which the manufacturers of commercial vehicles are catering for the operators. Details of quite a number of new models are included. Quite apart. however, from the production of exceptional machines, a surprising amount of good work has been done in what may be termed "cleaning up" chassis in various details.

Improvements are not confined to any particular part. There are better engines giving more power for the same or lighter, weight ; modifications in gearing, including the provision of more types giving a larger number of ratios, sometimes arranged on the constant-mesh principle ; whilst attention has also been given to pre-selective changes performed by power.

There are also definite improvements in connection with brakes, which add both to their power and reliability.

In fact, in most respects, the commercial vehicle is ahead of the private car. This is not surprising as, after all, it is a, commercial proposition, which must give efficient and economic service for a mileage Many times that expected by the average private user.
