Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

pRONIINENT among the Gilford models for 1930 will be a new low-loadline chassis intended to carry double-deck bus bodies.

It will be as well to deal with the models in order and refer briefly to the changes effected. The 168 SD low-loadline, passenger chassis has a new engine of ins, bore and 5 ins, stroke, rated at 37.3 h.p. but developing 100 b.h.p. This, of course, is a six-cylindered unit,

having a four-speed gearbox bolted to the bell housing at the rear. Lubrication is on the forced system. Longer rear springs have been fitted and these work in conjunction with Luvax rebound 'dampers, whilst the front springs now function in cooperation with Gruss air springs.

The brakes have been redesigned to give even better retarding powers. The pedal operates j shoes in all four Wheels through the medium of a Dewandre servo motor. 12entrai

B40 lubrication has been installed ; this is on the Aleyl principle. The tyre sizes have been increased and now 36-in. by 7-in. tyres are fitted.

' Two inches have been added to the wheelbase, bringing this dimension up to 16 ft. 8 ins., whilst the track is 6 ft, 3* ins. The chassis price is 1875.

The more recently introduced CP6 type, for 20-seater bodies, now sells at £595 in chassis form, but has a larger engine than heretofore. The bore and stroke are 3i ins. and 4i ins, respectively, giving an R.A.C. rating of 31.5 h.p., as opposed to 25.5 h.p. inithe existing type. In other respects ',this chassis remains materially. unaltered.

A variation of the larger chassis is known. as the 168 OT type and has forward control. This, again,, embodies the 100 b.h.p engine with tile other modifications as quoted. in the case of the 168 SD model. The

chassis price of this model is £895.

Known as the 168 DOT is the new chassis for double-deck buses. The specification follows, in the main, that of the other 168 types, but the suspension has been modified to accommodate the larger body. The loading height is such as to permit an overall height of 13 ft. Fifty passengers can be accommodated, 26 on the lower deck and 24 in the tipper saloon. The upper-saloon seat-deck is raised and a gangway provided on each side. This chassis is listed at £925.

At Olympia will be seen a 168 SD in chassis form, a CPS, also as a chassis, a 33-passenger Northumbria all-weather sliding-roof coach employing a 168 OT chassis, the doubledeck bus already mentioned, a 26seater de luxe;Pullman saloon body (Wycombe-built) "7on a 168 OT chassis, and in addition a range of component parts.
