• More than two-thirds of artics are running with dangerously dim lights — and Transport Minister Christopher Chope says he will crack down on badly lit vehicles.
HGV lights are condemned as being weaker than car lights in a report just published by • the Transport and Road Research Laboratory.
The report, which was based on a survey carried out at four sites over two months, said that on many HGVs some lights were not working at all.
Chope says a tighter check on headlight aim will be brought into the annual road worthiness test for all vehicles.
