WORLDWIDE DATA • The International Road Transport Union has published its 1990 world transport data. It contains information on vehicle fleets, freight movements and infrastructure in 165 countries. The data costs 115 Swiss Francs (48).

FTA'S FIRST • The Freight Transport Association claims its new driver's handbook is the first publication to contain full details of the driver licensing changes from April 1991.

The book also has a section on motorway driving when road works are in progress. It comes in three parts: the driver; on the road; and your vehicle. The FTA says it is also a useful tool for transport managers, as it will help them keep their drivers informed of their legal obligations. The handbook costs 0.75 for ETA members. SAF GUIDE • An international directory of service agents for SAF axles and air suspensions is available free to SAF customers from the company's UK distributor, EMS. It gives directions, contact names and opening hours of each agent, and includes an supplement from IMS.

CRONER'S CUT • Croner's latest Operational Co stings for Transport Management is now available. Published in loose-leaf format and updated twice a year, it is divided into three parts. The first deals with road freight, the second passengers, and the third budgeting and monitoring or performance. It costs £48.60 for the first year, then £19.00 a year.

MICHELIN'S MAP • Michelin has published a luxury bound atlas of Great Bri tam n and Ireland priced at £16.95. It has 9,500 place names, 48 town plans, and a table of distances and shipping connections. It also includes road widths, gradients and restrictions such as bridge heights and weight limits.

PLAXTOWS PERSPECHVE • Plaxton's finance division, Roadlease, has brought out a customer brochure called Finance — a new perspective. It explains operating leases, finance leases, hire purchase and contract maintenance.
