• Competition has broken out on the Wirral peninsula with the launch of a new company by three former Merseyside Transport bus drivers.
Wirral Bus competes with Merseybus on three routes running from Woodside, Birkenhead to New Brighton, New Ferry and Clatterbridge Hospital. The company employs 37 staff and owns 16 buses, bought from Ribble Motor Services of Preston. Six more buses are being acquired to serve another route.
Services operate seven days a week from 06:00-23:00hrs, and peak-hour fares are lower than Merseybus's.
